Recently, health experts have begun promoting isoflavones, substances found chiefly in the soybean. One of these isoflavones, genistein, has attracted much attention due to research indicating it may play a key role in controlling estrogen, and thereby the occurrence of breast and other cancers. Recent data also indicate that genistein can fight heart disease and control cholesterol levels, among other things.
