The original text by Jigme Lingpa (1730-1798) presents the entire Buddhist path according to the Nyingma school. The commentary by Kangyur Rinpoche (1897-1975) brings a certain contemporary understanding to the concise, elegant verse. This volume deals in particular with the Sutra section of the original verse emphasizing the ethical, psychological, and philosophical teachings shared by all schools of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as questions from the Theravada perspective regarding karma and ethics, the Four Noble Truths, and the twelvefold chain of dependent arising.
