Batik is an ancient art in which a design is outlined on cotton with hot wax. Paint is then applied to the material within the waxed areas. For an added effect, the cloth and wax may be crumpled allowing some colors to bleed through. The colors in these hand-made Batiks are truly rich and many of the details are highlighted by etching with gold paint. Far East Handicrafts is a Fair Trade Federation member.
